The Global Fabric Specialist, works across specific apparel private brands and directly with Fabric Manager in order to meet calendar deadlines, assist in global engineered fabric development & sourcing as well as all fabric from the Americas and PDD vendors per Dick's quality standards. Trouble shoots problems throughout the testing and development process and assists with bulk approval of engineered fabrics as well as those fabrics sourced from the Americas and PDD vendors. Works side by side with the Global Sourcing Team on all fabric development and vendor/mill allocation, ensures the designer's aesthetic vision is achieved within the target price. Collaborates as needed and ensures excellent, clear communication with cross functional partners: Asia Fabric Team, mills, Design and Global Sourcing.
Fabric & Sourcing:
Under the supervision of the global manager, collaborate with Design to understand seasonal brand direction and needs for their brand(s). Ensure completed fabric development sheet is passed off to mill and/or Asia fabric team and timely receipt of strike offs and fabric trials.
Visit mills to build up partnerships. Develop strong working relationship with Design and Global Sourcing. Assist global fabric manager in day to day responsibilities as needed. Work to understand and assure performance, quality, cost and lead times are maintained.
Develop fabric & ensure all selected raw materials will be tested and approved in accordance with the FIS and quality manual. Daily follow up with mills/vendors as needed on development progress.
Manage the fabric library.
Partner with Global Sourcing during bulk fabric approval process. Work closely with manager to ensure fabrications adopted meet quality standards.
Enter & maintain material data library in the PLM system. Ensures FIS submits are correct, enter, file and maintain FIS sheets. Fabric charts and binders are filled out completely and accurately maintained on a timely basis. Issues and solutions are reviewed in cross-functional TB meetings.
Ensure fabric calendar deadlines are met; provide timely updates on how development is progressing. Receive and send parcels as needed. Maintain reporting metrics on fabric development to ensure team is driving efficiency and continuous improvement.Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree- Textiles OR equivalent work experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience in textile manufacturing or development
