Financial Planning & Analysis Director

Reporting to the CFO, the Director Financial Planning & Analysis position performs a variety of project-oriented tasks to support the financial and strategic needs of 2nd Avenue LLC and GreenDrop LLC. This position is responsible for organizational financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and sales analysis. It ensures consistency with the business strategy, consistency and alignment across projects.

Job Responsibilities:
  • This position will be the FP&A business liaison for both 2nd Ave and GreenDrop
  • Works closely with business unit heads to incorporate financial and strategic analysis into key business decisions
  • Participates in annual strategic planning and budgeting, periodic forecasting, and management reporting processes
  • Creates appropriate metrics/KPI's, reporting tools and dashboards that give insight into the performance of the business
  • Analyzes financial data to explain variance drivers, including revenue and gross margin volume/rate/mix analysis
  • Supports monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting including budgets and forecasting
  • Develops effective reports, presentations and analysis for use by management and external stakeholders
  • Develops, analyzes, and reconciles statistical and accounting information for monthly and quarterly financial statement reviews
  • Assesses operating results in terms of profitability and performance against plan/prior year to ensure accuracy and identify opportunities
  • Develops Productivity reporting and partner with sales to drive profit improvements through pricing and cost savings initiatives
  • Participates in the evaluation of investment opportunities including product and service expansion proposals, geographic expansion initiatives and capital projects
  • Works closely with 2nd Ave COO and GreenDrop CSO on New Stores and Acquisition Opportunities
  • Create and manage FP&A Dashboards to provide business leaders with updated information related to Working Capital, Cash Flow, Trends, Inventory Efficiency, and Productivity
  • Understand and evaluate business strategy risks & opportunities

Experience & Education
  • 5 - 7 years of corporate finance-related experience and/or financial services professional looking to make transition into corporate finance with consistent career progression
  • Experience in a strategic finance or FP&A function, using financial analyses to inform business decisions
  • Strategic thinking / business analytical skills
  • Advanced skills in Excel and Power Point and proficiency with business intelligence tools
  • Experience in Corporate Retail environment preferred, but not required
  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance or Economics or a related field

  • Experience working with multiple legal entities
  • Able to create and execute a 5-year strategic plan
  • Able to prioritize, work, and liaison effectively with multiple members of the Operating Team and Senior Team including the CFO and CEO

Working Conditions:
  • Long periods of time working at a desk in an office environment
  • Will be expected to travel, as needed, to company stores, as well as to potential acquisition targets to conduct due diligence
  • Periodic weekend or evening work is expected, particularly during budgeting and forecasting
