specific Technology domains, with a position for each VP of Engineering, this role will assist their Engineering VP to run their organization as a business and partner with senior leaders, tech teams, and other Office Of peers, and will manage programs and coordinate initiatives within their domain and across the enterprise. In addition, this role will also ensure domain level strategic alignment to broader Technology strategies and practices while driving operational efficiency within their domain.
Office of Leadership:
Ensures strategic alignment of the assigned Engineering Domain(s) with Technology and Enterprise level strategy and goals. Supports strategic planning activities within the Engineering domain(s).
Supports prioritization, budgeting, and goal setting within the Engineering Domain(s).
Ensures alignment of the technology organization and key stakeholders with Engineering domain's direction.
Drives operational efficiency within the domain(s) by driving capabilities into an operating model and managing tactics and planning efforts within the Engineering domains.
Helps to manage the backlog and portfolio of initiatives within the Engineering domain(s).
Drives change management, communications planning, and execution efforts within the Engineering domain(s). Plans and drives activities that build the 'culture' of the Engineering domain(s).
Helps the team to think about how to market the successes of this area.
Ensures alignment, and works on assigned initiatives, in conjunction with other 'office of/portfolio' leads within Technology.
Drives Engineering domain level reporting practices and alignment between financial tracking and value delivery.
Scope, plan and execute programs with minimal outside assistance that span across teams within the assigned Engineering domain.
Manages Issues and Risks across product teams, helping to remove barriers.
Provides ongoing Governance (reporting, monitoring, escalation, controls).
Work with appropriate stakeholders, including outside parties, to undertake analysis and define options and recommendations, and ultimately deliver value.
Drive alignment across stakeholder groups to enable delivery success. Manages vendor relationships, contracts, and deliverables as required.
- Supports the Portfolio management and prioritization process in collaboration with technology leadership, teams, and stakeholders to achieve alignment between technology and business teams within the assigned Engineering domain(s).
Works with Portfolio and Program Management department to drive improvement in methodologies and deliverables, as well as collaboration practices and ways of working.
Works with Engineering domain leadership and teams to define metrics and measurement practices and aligns goals with the Technology organization as well as with Enterprise level goals.
Supports portfolio level reporting practices and alignment between financial tracking and value delivery.
Supports Process Improvement efforts across technology and business teams.
- Provides leadership, mentoring, and coaching to Program Managers and or Scrum Masters dedicated to a specific the Engineering domain and serves as an escalation point for address critical actions or issues.
- Conducts annual and mid-year reviews by reviewing individual development plans and team feedback.
- Fosters collaboration with team members to drive consistency across technology teams and finds opportunities to expose teammates to career interests.
- Guides team members in strategy, alignment, analysis, and execution tasks within and across technology teams.
- Participates in and contributes to learning activities around modern engineering practices (communities of practice).
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
7-10 years of relevant work experience, with 2-3 years of experience in a retail and eCommerce environment.
Experience translating ideas, approaches, and dependencies between technical and functional team members.
Experience managing alignment across projects or product teams in an enterprise environment.
Experience communicating program status, risks, issues, and needs to senior leaders, and managing up.
Experience managing strategic vendor relationships or acting as the primary point of contact for strategic partnerships.
Proficient in managing and growing team members in a professional setting.
Proficient in program and project management execution in a modern software environment via multiple methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc).
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Experience and knowledge of effective communication techniques and practices.
Proficient in effective troubleshooting and issue resolution techniques.
7-10 years of program management in a technology engineering environment, plus management and operational experience within a diverse environment.
Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and Visio.
