Position Summary:

The Merchandising Lead will be directly responsible for all merchandising activities within the guidance of the divisions merchandising department which includes, but is not limited to:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Plans and coordinates work, trains and motivates, monitors and evaluates performance of area Merchandisers.
  • Productivity management and cost/over-time control
  • Develop and maintain schedules for serviced accounts
  • Reporting of payroll hours and related expense reports
  • Accountable for completing jobs in a timely manner
  • Proper use of category/product management and merchandising techniques/policies and procedures
  • Communicates opportunities for additional sales to appropriate Division personnel
  • Travels to customer and/or merchandiser locations throughout division territory as required to maintain active field presence.
  • Maintain adequate merchandising supplies and equipment within department budgets
  • Maintain good customer relations
  • Maintain a professional work ethic, attitude, and policies
  • Maintaining of assigned equipment
  • Maintain vacation schedules
  • Maintain, train, and inform work related safety standards to all employees
  • Assist the Merchandising Manager in the selection and hiring of new personnel
  • Work with and assist the Merchandising Manager, Area Managers, and the Division Management team on specific projects
  • Utilize company established communication tools
  • Attend and participate in local sales meetings, trade shows, and training seminars
  • Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Minimum one (1) year customer relations experience
  • Two (2) years relevant industry experience
  • Intermediate computer ability and mathematical skills
  • Knowledge of the region and areas serviced by the Division
  • Excellent product knowledge of all commodities
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
