As the General Sales Manager you will use every ounce of your talent, skill, and influence to be a partner in actively managing and developing sales activities and implementation of Core-Mark's Strategic Sales initiatives. You'll work with Sales Management, Marketing, and other internal customers to develop and support the focus on current sales concepts, programs, and organize and support the current sales focus.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Achievement of Company goals related to existing Core Mark programs and new program development.
  • Achievement of annual MBO's related to above or different.
  • Provide new ideas to gain market share and grow the Company's sales and profits.
  • Interpret and deploy overall sales and strategic plans.
  • Develop and deploy comprehensive training materials.
  • Develop, update and use formal training process for new and existing General Sales Managers.
  • Conduct interactive training sessions to include webinars, conference calls, divisional sales meetings and regional/ company-wide events.
  • Maintain and develop sales oriented marketing materials to include new customer presentations, existing customer business reviews, strategic initiative presentations and Sales Marketing book materials.
  • Support trade and customer events to include value added meetings and/ or presentations.
  • Develop and provide monthly tracking of the Company's performance related to all strategic activity.
  • Assist divisions with key initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Division President for specific needs.
  • Identify internal talent for future succession planning.
  • Maintain updated versions of all sales materials on SharePoint.
  • Working knowledge and use of the Company's internal systems.

  • Proven track record in selling with progressive influence on ROI
  • Extensive knowledge of convenience, grocery, food service industry.
  • Interpersonal savvy with the ability to work collaboratively while influencing internal and external customers and stakeholders to manage and develop strategic sales initiatives.
  • Exceptional team leadership skills with proven ability to effectively manage, engage, and inspire sales teams to continuously surpass targets
  • Importantly, from a culture perspective, this person will be passionate, results oriented, collaborative, team oriented, and have a genuine desire to succeed.
  • Exceptional project management skills.
  • Commitment to thorough and consistent communication and follow up with internal and external customers and/or stakeholders alike

REQUIREMENTS

  • Secondary education in Business Management or related field experience.
  • 7+ years' experience in a management level or above in the convenience, grocery, food service, retail or wholesale industry.
  • 5+ years' experience designing and implementing sales training strategies and programs.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Travel minimum 40% in the field
