Description

At DICK'S Sporting Goods, you will have the opportunity to learn from and work with the leaders of a market lead and Fortune 400 company.  DICK'S Sporting Goods is returning to campus this year; to recruit, train and develop top collegiate talent into well-rounded retail professionals, creating a talent pipeline to support future leadership needs.

Based out of our Pittsburgh, PA Customer Support Center (CSC), this one-year development program will expose you to a broad range of business activities through assignments, including:

Rotations (Order of Rotations will vary):

Inventory Planning:  During your 16 weeks with an Inventory Planner, you will learn how DICK'S Sporting Goods ensures the right product is in the right stores, at the right time for our customers.  You will utilize the allocations and replenishment systems in order to keep our stores in stock on a daily basis.  In addition, you will complete ad-hoc analysis to find opportunities and risks based on competitive and regional needs.  During this time, you will also partner with the Merchandise Planning team to provide future projections to our vendors and ensure our financial responsibility.  You'll spend time learning about our supply chain to understand inventory flow paths, timing to market, and internal process through the distribution network.  The final 4 weeks will be spent managing the business independently, which provides the opportunity to take ownership of and make decisions for a business category.

Buying: Throughout these 16 weeks with a Buying team, you will carry out the basic responsibilities of an introductory buying role (create styles, write orders, enter promotions, submit price chances, etc.). During this time, you will also communicate with vendors, assist in identifying products to carry in store, analyze the space and flow of those products, as well as work with cross-functional teams (ex. Advertising, Visual Merchandising, Pricing, etc.) to execute the sale of those goods.  You will also partner with the Product Development team to gain exposure to the full life-cycle of a sporting goods product through sourcing, negotiating, producing, shipping and selling that good.  Finally, you will experience direct communication with the Merchandise Planning team to develop preseason financial plans and complete ad-hoc analysis to understand seasonal trends.

eCommerce: You will spend 3 weeks with a Site Merchandiser in an eCommerce rotation, where you will gain baseline knowledge of how to leverage Omni-channel analytics, channels of distribution, and customer facing platforms to maximize business results.  You will also leverage web analytics and user experience data to identify opportunities and make recommendations to improve the business and customer experience.  In addition, you will gain cross-functional experience across the Omni-channel support team, this includes fulfillment, social media, SEO, online creative and pricing.  Throughout the rotation, you will get the opportunity to make real time updates to our site and measure immediate results.

Stores: By spending 10 weeks in a Pittsburgh store location, you will gain a dynamic view of our customers, products and Omni-channel experience.  You will spend time in each department within the store, allowing you to interact with customers and see a full view of the company's product offerings and customer demographics.  You will also complete all day-to-day store operations to understand how decisions made at the CSC impact the stores. As part of this rotation, you will complete an interactive team project that analyzes current or proposed business improvement opportunities - past projects have been implemented chain-wide.
