Job Description:
The Sales Associate generates sales through customer engagement and supporting a consistent brand experience. Works as a member of the store team to lead a positive customer and brand experience. Assists in operational activities that generate sales.
  • Displays a "Customer Focused" mindset at all times
  • Suggests a GapCard to every customer, informing them of the benefits
  • Contributes to a positive work environment by consistently treating all Gap Brand customers and employees with respect
  • Promotes a safe working and shopping environment to maximize the customer experience
  • Stays current on financial goals and priorities set forth by the management team, as it relates to the customer
  • Communicates information to customers about the quality, value and style of Gap products, such as fit, fabric, price and shrinkage
  • Provides courteous, helpful customers service throughout the store, including the Sales Floor, Fitting Room, and CashWrap. Contributes to a positive work environment.
  • Offers suggestions to the leadership team to improve sales and operational processes
  • Handles customer situations in compliance with policy and procedures; escalates issues as appropriate
  • Supports shipment receiving and processing to customer-ready standards. Does floor replenishment.
  • Enforces all Loss Prevention policies, and reports violations
  • Reports to Customer Experience Manager, Brand Experience Manager, and all subordinate supervisory personnel
  • Collaborates effectively across both the Customer Experience and Brand Experience work centers
  • Exhibits peer coaching and facilitates training of new Sales Associate


Job Requirements:
  • Excellent selling and time management skills
  • Ability to delegate and prioritize tasks and responsibilities
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to receive feedback and take action when appropriate
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Six months of customer service and previous retail experience preferred
  • Experience handling cash preferred
  • Ability to safely lift and carry 30 lbs.
  • Available and flexible availability and flexibility to work nights, weekends, store openings and closings, to meet the needs of the business
